AAMVA’s Joint Mobile Driver License (mDL) Subcommittee met in Tampa, FL, from April 9 – 11. The group had a productive three days discussing changes to the Mobile Driver's License Implementation Guidelines and the DL/ID Card Design Standard. Some topics of discussion included permit encoding for mDL, issuing authority communication guidance to mDL holders and verifiers, adding digital signature to the PDF417 barcode, document/credential type information needed in the PDF417 barcode, clarifications on zone placement, and photo requirements. In addition to these discussions, the group also reviewed drafted slides for the mDL comprehensive training plan and discussed other relevant topics in scope for the Subcommittee.
