Membership

Our foundation begins with our members. AAMVA has two categories of members as chartered in our bylaws. Jurisdiction members are U.S. states and territories and Canadian provinces of which there are 69 total and are geographically designated in four regions. Associate members are comprised of local government and local law enforcement agencies, nonprofits and associations, and companies and organizations whose missions align with our own. See below for more information about our membership types and the benefits of membership in AAMVA.

Our members-only directory makes it easy for members to connect with one another, to share information and resources, and to find associate members who have the products and services members need for their business. Access to the directory is a member benefit that requires logging in to our website.

Program support is offered to AAMVA jurisdiction members. Our Jurisdiction to Jurisdiction Learning Visits provide grant funding to conduct a visit to another jurisdiction to learn from, share, and exchange ideas with colleagues. The Automated Vehicle (AV) Technical Assistance program is designed to enhance understanding of automated vehicle technology and to help jurisdiction members develop a strategy to address AV testing and deployment.

AAMVA's popular jurisdiction members-only survey tool gives agencies the opportunity to survey peers on a number of topics and gather information and data crucial to decision-making. Results of surveys are available to jurisdiction members only.

Our awards program honors the work of jurisdiction members annually in the categories of safety, service, security, public affairs and consumer education, and the International Driver Examination Certification program.
