John Broers serves as the director of driver licensing for the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. John recently retired from the South Dakota Highway Patrol after nearly 24 years with the department where he served as the commander of the Motor Carrier Division for the last 10 years. He started his career as a corrections officer, deputy sheriff, and then state trooper. He recently served as Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) president and was on the board for many years. He has been engaged in commercial vehicle safety and regulation on local, state, and national boards for several years. John and his wife Michelle have been married for over 25 years and have a son and daughter.
