Kevin Mitchell has been with the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works for over 28 years, and currently serves as the director of Road Safety and registrar of Motor Vehicles. Kevin oversees the operations of the driver licensing and vehicle registration programs of the Registry of Motor Vehicles, and leads, promotes, and champions road safety initiatives on behalf of the department and the Province of Nova Scotia. Prior to taking on the role of Registrar in 2017, Kevin was the director of Operation Services, overseeing the implementation and operation of the department’s operations contact centre, and the director of Fleet Management, overseeing the department’s fleet of highway maintenance equipment and provincial ferry operations. Kevin is a professional engineer, having obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia in 1993.
