Kurt Myers

Kurt J. Myers was appointed Deputy Secretary for Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in June of 2007. In this position, Myers oversees nearly 1,400 DVS employees who provide quality customer service, while keeping the safety and security of the Commonwealth’s 10.1  million licensed drivers and 12 million registered vehicle owners a paramount focus. 

The Deputy Secretary for DVS oversees key highway safety improvements relating to driver behavior, a customer-forward business approach, implementation of motorist-related legislation, and integration of new initiatives that improve customer services through streamlined processes and use of new technologies. Myers is also responsible for the oversight of 102 facilities across the Commonwealth that issue driver’s licenses and identification cards as well as approximately 10,800 new and used car dealers, 5,500 agents, 17,000 vehicle safety inspection stations and over 7,800 emission inspection stations. 

In addition to his work at PennDOT, Myers has previously served as Chair of the AAMVA International Board of Directors from 2017 to 2018, and as Chair of the AAMVA Region 1 Board of Directors from 2014 to 2015. 

He has also been active in the International Registration Plan (IRP). Myers served on IRP’s Board of Directors from 1999 to 2009, and was Chair of the IRP Board of Directors in 2005 and 2006.
