CONCURRENT SESSIONS

Motor Vehicle Dealer Regulatory Tools and Resources (AAMVA and NAMVBC Joint Session Part 1)

AAMVA and the National Association of Motor Vehicle Boards and Commissions (NAMVBC) team up once again to provide joint conference sessions, building on collaborative efforts that started at last year’s AIC. These morning sessions will begin by providing updates addressing manufacturing, titling, and selling of multi-stage vehicles. Discussions will then focus on AAMVA’s Guidance for the Acceptance of Signatures on Physical Odometer Disclosure Statements. We will round out this portion of the session by discussing AAMVA’s work with electronic vehicle titling and collaboration with motor vehicle dealer stakeholders. The remainder of this session and the 10:45 am session will focus on fraud impacting motor vehicle dealers. Operating and regulating motor vehicle dealerships involves many areas that can be impacted by fraud including identity crimes, financial fraud, and title fraud. Fortunately, tools are available to help motor vehicle dealers not fall victim to this fraudulent activity that dealers, dealer regulators, DMV investigators, and other stakeholders need to be aware of. Join us to learn from case studies and to gain knowledge of available resources that will demonstrate successful efforts to deter, detect, and investigate dealer related fraud.

CMV Licensing and Enforcement

How can you verify the authenticity of a Mexican Commercial Driver's License?  Jeremy Disbrow from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance will join us to discuss tools for verification of the Mexican CDL credential, known as the “LFC.” We will also discuss the challenges associated with “masking,” when a commercial vehicle driver’s conviction is not accurately reflected on their Commercial Driver License Information System (CDLIS) record.
