Cause of Death: Struck by Vehicle while deploying spikes

Trooper Aaron Smith was struck and killed by a stolen vehicle while deploying spike strips to terminate a vehicle pursuit on eastbound I-70, in Plainfield, Indiana.  

Other troopers were in pursuit of the suspect on I-70 when Trooper Smith, while deploying spike strips, was hit by the fleeing vehicle. The fleeing vehicle crashed after hitting Trooper Smith.
