Kathleen Meradith-Eyers

Kathleen Meradith-Eyers was appointed director of the Motor Vehicle Division in December 2024.

Kathleen came to the Iowa Department of transportation (DOT) in 2017, first as an operational analyst in the Motor Vehicle Division supporting the driver education, driver fitness, and commercial driver licensing (CDL) programs. She soon went on to serve a variety of leadership and policy-focused positions within the division, most recently serving as the deputy director of the Motor Vehicle Division from 2022-2024 where she oversaw service innovations, resource prioritization, and operations.

Before joining the Iowa DOT, Kathleen earned dual degrees in Political Science and International Studies, graduating magna cum laude with honors from Loyola University Chicago. She is a graduate of the Certified Public Management program at Drake University and the AASHTO management institute. She began her public service career as a constituent affairs assistant in a Chicago alderman’s office, and then as a policy and budget analyst for the Illinois State Senate.
