Pong joined the Minnesota Department of Public Safety as the Driver and Vehicle Services Director in 2021. As the director, he leads and supports all state services related to driver’s licenses and ID’s, and motor vehicle registration. Prior to joining the Department of Public Safety, Pong spent 10 years at the MN Department of Revenue in various leadership roles.
Prior to his state service, Pong served in the United States Marine Corps which included a tour to Afghanistan in 2010.
He has earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management - University of Minnesota, a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide, and is a graduate of the State’s Senior Leadership Institute.
Pong lives in Woodbury, MN with his wife, 4 kids, and his parents.
