Ian Grossman

Ian Grossman is a seasoned communications, policy, and association management professional with a broad array of experiences in both the public and private sectors, including positions in government, political campaigns, and private consulting. Ian is the President and CEO for the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) where he is responsible for leading the North American association in providing solutions and services to government agencies in the United States and Canada through best practices, model programs, and a state-of-the art technology network that connects its members. Ian previously served as the Vice President of Member Services and Public Affairs where he led the driver licensing, identity management, vehicle, and law enforcement programs, as well as the organization’s strategic planning, membership operations, strategic communications, government affairs, and international collaboration efforts.

Prior to joining AAMVA in 2009, he was the Associate Administrator for Public Affairs for the Federal Highway Administration, responsible for all aspects of marketing and communications for the agency. He has also served at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Before serving at the U.S. Department of Transportation, Ian spent three years with Governor Jim Douglas (VT) in a variety of capacities including as Campaign Manager for the Governor’s successful 2004 reelection. Before his work in the public sector, Ian provided marketing consulting for professional service companies and was one of the founders of an international communications agency that became the industry leader in providing public relations to the nation's largest law firms.
