Ryan Williams began working for the Utah Department of Public Safety and Driver License Division in 2011. He started his career as an Examiner and held several positions in the Division including a CDL and SPE Examiner. As a Hearing Officer, he administered hearings for points, Driver Reviews, DUI’s, and Fatal Accidents, among other things. He became the Supervisor over the CDL section and was promoted to CDL Coordinator and Manager over CDL and Medical Sections.
In 2017 he was promoted to Quality Assurance and IT Programs Manager where he led modernization projects like in-house kiosk testing, tablet testing for regular operator road tests and Motorcycle skills testing, appointment scheduling and online application processing to name a few. As the Q.A. Manager he also oversaw implementation of State to State, SPEX, and DIAE. He led Utah's mDL efforts from RFI to implementing a production model in 2022.
Ryan served as the Vice Chair and Chair of the AAMVA Card Design Standards Committee and the Identity
representative for the Driver Standing Committee. He is a 2023 graduate of the AAMVA Leadership Academy. Ryan is currently a Program Specialist for the Identity Management team at AAMVA.
