Due to loss of life and injuries resulting from hazardous traffic violations, such as driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, AAMVA opposes the reduction of such charges to lesser offenses by prosecutors and judges and/or the practice of “deferred sentencing” related to those charges. Similarly, AAMVA opposes the practice of “masking” of CDL violations that would prevent a CLP or CDL holder’s conviction for any violation from appearing on the CDLIS driver record.
