The AAMVA Board of Directors held their annual spring meeting last week in Denver, CO. The board received operational updates on key initiatives including member support, financial transparency, and technology modernization. The board took several actions, including adjusting future technology fees for mainframe legacy systems, migrating to using title pointers in the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) for setting state NMVTIS fees, and approving the publication of latest update of the NMVTIS Best Practices. They also approved a plan to update and align their governance structure to strengthen the role of the member committees that support the Board’s decision making. This includes cementing the Identity Management Committee as a formal body and creating a new Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) Customer Delivery and Operations Committee. The board was also able to meet with key partners from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration; Transportation Security Administration; Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance; IRP, Inc.; Commercial Vehicle Training Association; and the National Conference of State Legislatures. More information about the meeting and the board’s decisions will be available on our website in the coming weeks.
