The AAMVA Board of Directors held their annual winter meeting last week in Florida. The Board received operational updates on key initiatives including member support, financial management, the Digital Trust Service to support mobile driver license (mDL) interoperability, and electronic titling. They reviewed a report on the annual milestones of the 2023-2027 Strategic Framework and the conclusion of AAMVA’s 2025 Financial Audit which continued to show no findings or management concerns. The Board took several actions, including advancing a new policy to the membership on the use of Remote Photography for a DL/ID, and approving the publication of Intelligent Speed Assistance Model Legislation as well as a new white paper to help define the roles and responsibilities of different parties in the electronic titling ecosystem. Among the Board’s decisions was to establish a phased support approach for jurisdictions who may not meet the January 2028 deadline of the discontinuation of AAMVA legacy systems, including components of UNI and AMIE messaging. In addition, the Board met with FMCSA Administrator Derek Barrs to discuss shared priorities and topics relative to Commercial Driver Licensing. The approved documents will be available for download on our website in the coming weeks. Also listen to the latest AAMVAcast episode for a meeting recap.
