AAMVA Board of Directors Holds Annual Winter Meeting

2/5/2024

The AAMVA Board of Directors held their annual winter meeting last week in Arlington, VA. The Board received operational updates on key initiatives including member support, financial management, and the new Digital Trust Service to support mobile driver license (mDL) interoperability. They reviewed a report on the first year of completion of the 2023-2027 Strategic Framework. The Board took several actions, including authorizing the publication of best practices and guidance documents related to automated vehicles, emergency response planning, and electronic signatures on odometer statements. Among the Board’s decisions was to authorize the sunsetting of certain AAMVA legacy systems, including components of the UNI Mainframe, UNI Windows, and AMIE messaging which will all be phased out between now and 2028. In addition, the Board met with federal partners from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to discuss shared priorities. More information about the Board’s decisions, as well as copies of the approved documents, will be available for download on our website in the coming weeks.
