AAMVA is saddened to announce that longtime friend of AAMVA, Douglas Keith Tobin, passed away on September 27, 2024. For over 30 years, Doug worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, during which time he served as the Director of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Director of the Bureau of Drivers Licensing, successfully modernizing the Commonwealth’s driver’s license. He also served as the Region 1 President of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators and worked on nationally acclaimed innovative solutions in the Bureau of Design. In retirement, he devoted himself to grandparenting, volunteering with the Cumberland County Democratic Committee, and enjoyed travelling to Ireland and the United Kingdom with his first wife and eldest grandson. Doug was a vital member of the AAMVA community, and he will be greatly missed.
