On September 11, 2025, during 2025 AAMVA Annual International Conference, Eric Jorgensen, outgoing chair of the Board, presented the prestigious Chair’s Award of Excellence and Achievement to Chris Caras, Director of the Driver License Division, Utah Department of Public Safety. Caras began his career in 1992 as an examiner, and has held roles as Field Office Supervisor, Area Manager, Bureau Chief, Deputy Director, and then Director. He has been deeply involved with AAMVA over many years — serving on the Driver Standing Committee, the Autonomous Vehicle Working Group, as Chair of the Region 4 Driver & Financial Responsibility group, and leading the State-to-State Governance Committee, among many other contributions.
