Driver Testing & Examiner Training Subcommittee (DTET) and CSTIMS Subcommittee Hold Meetings

The Driver Testing & Examiner Training (DTET) Subcommittee and CSTIMS Subscommittee both held meetings last week in Savannah, GA. The DTET reviewed and approved minor changes to the CDL Modernization Skills Test. Feedback from member jurisdictions informed futher improvements on the existing program which will assist examiners when administering the modernized skills test. These updates will be made available to jurisdictions in March. The group also worked on reviewing and approving the Certified Driver Examiner (CDE) program makeover.
 
The CSTIMS subcommittee also met in person, discussing a mobile application for CSTIMS, DLN standardization, and modular user management features for CSTIMS. Subcommittee members weighed in on who will benefit, security considerations, storage needs, usage and protection of data while discussing mobile application. Members also discussed how they use CSTIMS, and new developments in their states that help with appointments. 
 
Both subcommittees met together to discuss their work and opportunities to collaborate. Members had a Q&A session to share some of the recommendations based on experiences in their day to day CDL skills testing and CSTIMS application support. Both Driver Committee Chairs’ Misty Zimmerman, WY (CSTIMS) and Nancy Prescott, VT (DTET) subcommittee were in attendance to support the groups.
