What should I do if I accidentally report a vehicle to NMVTIS that was not in my inventory or was not a total loss?

If you mistakenly report a vehicle, you can add a comment to the amendment to clarify the error. For example:
“Report made in error. This vehicle is not a Total Loss.”
This comment will effectively cancel out the incorrect report.

How can I correct a vehicle report submitted in error?

NMVTIS does not allow direct updates to submitted reports. Instead, you must amend the report by adding a comment explaining the error, then submit a new report with the cor-rect information. For example:
“Obtain date reported in error.”

Steps to amend a report:
  1. Log in to the Single VIN Reporting Service (SVRS).
  2. Select “Prior Reporting Submissions” from the main menu.
  3. Locate the report submitted in error.
  4. Click the “Pencil” icon next to the report.
  5. Add a comment explaining the error and submit.
  6. After the comment is accepted, the amendment is created the user will receive a confirmation email for each report amended.
