Law Enforcement Response to Natural Disasters and Protests: Lessons Learned
Hear how the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded during and after Hurricane Helene; then hear how the California Highway Patrol responded to the Los Angeles wildfires, and more recently, to protests.
Identity Establishment and REAL ID
In this session we will discuss identity establishment procedures for non-Real ID compliant credentials. We will also discuss the circumstances under which a Real ID can follow a customer between jurisdictions.
Federal Partner Updates with FMCSA and NHTSA
Come join us for an interactive update from our federal partners at NHTSA and FMCSA. Both agencies will have staff on hand to deliver updates and answer questions.
REST Transition for Vehicle Systems
This session will be informative for states who have not yet made plans for their conversion to REST, as well as those participating in NMVTIS using batch processing. This session will be an opportunity for AAMVA staff to share the urgency of making the changes as well as the implications to state title processing and to listen to concerns and challenges states may face in meeting the January 2028 deadline.

Effective MVA Interactions With Drivers Facing Medical Challenges
In this session, we will discuss staff training to best serve medically-at-risk drivers, including senior drivers. Areas include detecting potential medical concerns during face-to-face interactions and retesting drivers reported by law enforcement or medical professionals. Additionally, there will be discussion about adaptive equipment and how MVA examiners can support drivers in being able to operate safely.
Interacting with Vehicle Technology and Vehicle Automation
Learn about the evolution with vehicle automation and vehicle technology to better prepare driver training educators, first responders, vehicle program managers, and other stakeholders. This session will address the capabilities and limitations of automated vehicle technology and provide an update on the latest with Level 3 vehicle automation. We will then focus on what attendees need to know, understand, and be prepared for when interacting with the variety of vehicle automation systems in use today.
Verification Systems Updates
Come hear the latest updates to the identity establishment systems including Social Security Online Verification (SSOLV), Verification of Lawful Status (VLS), US Passport Verification Service (USPVS), Selective Service Registration (SSR), and Digital Image Access and Exchange (DIAE). We will also address the new features of Driver License Data Verification (DLDV) to include face matching, driver status, and REAL ID indicator.
Supporting Safety and Service: Managing Customer Disturbances in DMV Environments
As leaders, we understand that DMV staff may face challenging interactions with frustrated or disruptive customers. This session addresses how DMVs across the country are proactively managing customer disturbances while maintaining a safe, respectful, and efficient service environment. Attendees will learn about effective reporting, de-escalation strategies, staff training programs, and partnerships with law enforcement. Join us to hear real-world experiences, share best practices, and explore tools to foster a culture of safety, support, and professionalism in DMV operations.
