Law Enforcement Disaster Response and Recovery: Lessons Learned

Hear first-hand accounts from three state highway patrol agencies on how they responded to hurricane, flood, and fire disasters.


REAL ID Update

In this session we will discuss hot topics and trends that have developed since the enforcement date of May 7th. Topics will include updates for mDL waiver applications, applicable TSA audit requirements, and roll out of physical card templates, among others.


Bridging the Gap to Underserved and Rural Communities

Access to DMV services is a critical need for individuals seeking mobility, employment, and independence. However, rural and underserved communities often face significant barriers due to distance, limited staffing, and technology gaps. This session explores innovative strategies and partnerships that DMVs across the country are adopting to close the access gap. Whether you're a DMV leader, public policy maker, or community advocate, this session will offer actionable approaches to improving licensing access for all, regardless of geography.


REST Transition for Vehicle Systems

This session will be informative for states who have not yet made plans for their conversion to REST, as well as those participating in NMVTIS using batch processing. This session will be an opportunity for AAMVA staff to share the urgency of making the changes as well as the implications to state title processing and to listen to concerns and challenges states may face in meeting the January 2028 deadline.

Regions 3 and 4 jurisdiction members have this time to meet with exhibitors and sponsors to learn about the solutions they offer. These are short, one-on-one meetings between a jurisdiction and an exhibitor or sponsor. Participants receive a QuickConnect schedule after registration and bring it with them to know what meetings to attend.

Hear how Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Sloup leverages his YouTube program, “Fridays with Frank”, to promote traffic safety. "Fridays with Frank" has a national following and demonstrates how agencies can use their social media platforms the same way.

Effective MVA Interactions With Drivers Facing Medical Challenges to Safe Operations

In this session, we will discuss staff training to best serve medically at-risk drivers, including senior drivers. Areas include detecting potential medical concerns during face-to-face interactions and retesting drivers reported by law enforcement or medical professionals. Additionally, there will be a discussion about adaptive equipment and how motor vehicle administration examiners can support drivers in being able to operate their vehicles safely. 


Interacting with Vehicle Technology and Vehicle Automation

Learn about the evolution of vehicle automation and vehicle technology to better prepare driver training educators, first responders, vehicle program managers, and other stakeholders. This session will address the capabilities and limitations of automated vehicle technology and provide an update on the latest in Level 3 vehicle automation. We will then focus on what attendees need to know, understand, and be prepared for when interacting with the variety of vehicle automation systems in use today.


Verification Systems Updates

Come hear the latest updates to the identity establishment systems including Social Security Online Verification (SSOLV), Verification of Lawful Status (VLS), US Passport Verification Service (USPVS), Selective Service Registration (SSR), and Digital Image Access and Exchange (DIAE). We will also address the new features of Driver License Data Verification (DLDV) to include face matching, driver status, and REAL ID flag.  


Supporting Safety and Service: Managing Customer Disturbances in DMV Environments

As leaders, we understand that DMV staff may face challenging interactions with frustrated or disruptive customers. This session addresses how DMVs across the country are proactively managing customer disturbances while maintaining a safe, respectful, and efficient service environment. Attendees will learn about effective reporting, de-escalation strategies, staff training programs, and partnerships with law enforcement. Join us to hear real-world experiences, share best practices, and explore tools to foster a culture of safety, support, and professionalism in DMV operations.
